I like several different types of styles for home decor, should I combine all or choose one? These are the styles of decor I like - Southwest inspired such as Native American art, pottery, drums, cactus, zig zag lines, bold earthy colors etc; Canadian/Alaskan wildlife like moose, wolves, evergreen trees, pinecones, etc; and Asian inspired decor like bamboo plants, water fountains, windchimes, teapots, feng-shui, etc. In my new home, should I try to incorporate parts from each or stick with one type the whole way through? I don't know how I could pick only one style and if I did, I would miss the others. What are your thoughts on this?

Can someone please help me revise my essay? HI! I was wondering if someone could help me revise my essay for me because It is due tomorrow , and i have trouble with punctuation. Museum Project I went to the Smithsonian’s National museum of the American Indian, mainly because I was interested in going there and it was very close to my district. The reason why I chose this museum in particular instead of others is because, I wanted to see how the Smithsonian would portray Native Americans truthfully and tastefully. What I saw when I first entered the NMAI was a lot of the Native American art displayed on the first floor. I went into the museum with a critical eye, but not looking for reasons to purposely bring the NMAI down. When I saw the art and saw how the museum displayed them as works of art that was so unique, none of the art talked about how when the Europeans first came and observed the Indians doing such things as creating gorgeous works of pottery and sculptures, they had seen the Indians art as witchcraft ,and something uncivilized . These key facts are not stated anywhere on the artifacts in the NMAI and would be a good idea for the NMAI to point that out. For instance I saw an exhibit called Our People, which mainly was a showcase of different Native American tribes that the Smithsonian hand pick every couple years to display out of the 500 tribes that exist. In each showcase, I noticed that it was very different from the last one. It showed the diversity of each Native American’s culture ,and how even though they all share the name “Native” they all were very diverse when it came to different aspects in their lives. I gave the museum a lot of respect when I discovered that each showcase of a particular tribe was all created by the curators of that tribe. I found that very tasteful of the museum to allow the curator to present it opposed to some scholarly educator who studied the tribe in college. The museum also displayed a showcase trying to replicate roles in a Native American family. The showcase was made out of mannequins, showing the Native men as the hunters and the fighters and the women as the care takers of the entire family. What the museum did not show or let the viewer see is that Native American family structure differs from tribe to tribe, and how in some tribes women are not always the caretakers, and are even seen in some tribes as powerful physical beings in their family. The showcase did show how Native American families usually have extended family members living with them and it usually not just mother and father solely. I found it very Ironic that the majority of people who bother showing up to take the time out to see this exhibit aren’t even Native Americans or a Native American descendant, they were dominantly white Americans. The tour guides that the museum hires to inform people about different tribal art and cultures are all white Americans, which can potentially alter or give a skewed image of information. When I first heard about the NMAI, I honestly thought that I was going to either walk into this exhibit and it would be a Walt Disney version of Native American history with tepees and Indians eating food with pilgrims in a circle smiling, or it would be a very horrifying and sad version of Native American history being bloody and gory to the viewer, to try and introduce them to a day in the life of a native American in the 1400’s when the Europeans first arrived. The Smithsonian did neither it was neither bloody nor fabricated. To express it in one word, all in all would have to be festive, and not in a fabricated way. It was almost like the Smithsonian was celebrating these natives and their existence and culture. Alongside many exhibitions where movies of the tribe doing their ritual dance and games they played as a family. This museum definitely did not point fingers, and again I really feel that the museums main purpose for the NMAI was to show Native Americans as brilliant, artistic, festive people who created beautiful works of art, and have overcome harsh times .The NMAI did not get into too much detail, about the American history of the NMAI and in my opinion I feel as though they could have added a lot more information. They needed to really let the viewer know just how selfish, cruel ,and corrupt most of these European nations where towards these native peoples .This information is very vital so that when people leave the museum they leave knowing that the Native American life was not just land being taken and containing their culture as a people. I think that the NMAI should let viewers know more about how not only was their land but how Native women were raped, exposed to diseases they were not immune to, How some tribes were victims of genocide and how many Europeans wanted to wipe them off the face of the earth. The NMAI did not speak of how not all Native tribes saw themselves as on Native community but very different from each other and even better than one another

Is this a true statemnet about Native Americans? We were told to write about the Native Americans' adaption to their enviorment, and culture.. my teacher was like thats not true but it is if when you read it you know what i'm taliking about ... is it racist give me your opinions Alex Hoffman U.S. History September 11, 2008 The Plight of the Native Americans In North America there are many different types of environments, some of which led to the development of a large number of diverse early American cultures. Specifically, in what is now the Great Plains of the United States, there were once many tribes of Native Americans dispersed throughout the lands, cultivating their own environment. The land consisted of herds of buffaloes grazing through the land, highly enriched soil, naturally growing berries, nuts, and vegetables. The Native Americans adapted to this environment by chasing the buffalo, occasionally cultivating maize and squash, and by picking whatever food grew. The Native American’s culture had a low developmental level of science, art, and political nature. The culture of these tribes involved traveling with the buffalo, fishing, creating totem poles, weaving, pottery making, and spiritual rituals. Most of the Native Americans’ religious experiences were caused by entheogens, or peyote, that essentially was burned and drugged them. The Native Americans had technology that was outdated by thousands of years compared to Asian and European cultures, such as knives, bows and arrows, huts, and rope. The Native Americans were an extremely uncultivated society compared to other societies, such as the Mongols, Egyptians, Incas, and all of the European countries, especially during the Renaissance. When the Europeans first saw the Native Americans, after they had taken a long journey across the Atlantic, they saw them as a primitive civilization. The original reason Christopher Columbus was at sea was to trade with India to gain wealth. When Christopher Columbus saw the land he stepped foot on, he knew of the potential wealth he could gain. Many more excursions and confrontations continued after that. Basically, the Europeans, in this case the Spaniards, killed many Native Americans in order to gain the wealth of the land. The Native Americans had no weapons to defend themselves with except for their simple bows and arrow and knives. Many people argue the morality of taking the land away from the Native Americans but as Shakespeare states, “All’s fair in love and war.” William Shakespeare was one of the world’s greatest writers of literature and he lived in the same time era of the Native Americans. Most of the Native Americans did not have a written language. The Europeans, particularly the Spaniards, went to war with the Native Americans. This is how the Native Americans began to lose their land. Another reason they lost was because of the lack of a political system. The Native Americans also failed in the domestication of animals. The Native Americans who lived on the Great Plains depended on the buffalo, so if the buffalo died, so would they. The Native Americans did not make the most of their land and did not contribute to science, literature, architecture, or politics. Therefore, the Native Americans were a low functioning society in a world of highly civilized nations. That is why they were conquered and virtually destroyed. by the way it was only supposed to be a paragraph so i couldn't do a whole lot of details and facts.... and by the way i'm part indian(or native american) and its only about the indians in the colonial area not in mexico or south america. by the way it was only supposed to be a paragraph so i couldn't do a whole lot of details and facts.... and by the way i'm part indian(or native american) and its only about the indians in the colonial area not in mexico or south america.
You like my essay? 7th grade double accelerated S.S.? Correct me if any errors.? Through the years, many different groups of early people came to the Americas. Seeds were planted, and they grew into various cultures. Some were alike and some were different. The Iroquois and the Zuni tribes were among these groups. Their cultures had several discrepancies and several similarities. The Zuni tribe had many different customs and ways of life that were unlike others. They lived on the border of New Mexico and Arizona, along the Zuni River. Most of their lives revolved around their religion, which played an immense role in their society. They had three “most powerful deities” – Earth Mother, Sun Father and Moonlight-Giving Mother. Their language was simply called Zuni; it’s similar to the languages of other tribes too. Pottery is an important part of their art, in their later years; there have been more men potters than woman. One factor that was different between these Native Americans was the food they ate. Because they lived in diverse areas of America, they didn’t have many of the same crops available. The Zuni tribe lived in an area where there was very little rainfall, so most of the food they ate was hunted for. The Iroquois on the other hand, depended on their three sister crops: corn, beans, and squash. The people of the Zuni did have some crops though; there were gardens, which consisted of herbs, spices, corn, beans, and squash. The Iroquois people fertilized their gardens using fish heads. The Zuni women prepared the food too. The clothing of many Native American tribes was also very different. The climate of the location definitely affected the type of apparel a tribe would wear. Both groups wore clothing made of animals. The Zuni tribe used the hide of sheep or wool that was spun. The Iroquois used deer and other animal skins. Each group also wore moccasins and jewelry. During the colder seasons, the people of the Zuni Native American tribe would wear feathers, silver, head wraps and capes too. The women would often wear dresses, aprons and leggings. The men would wear loincloth, which is two pieces of cloth or two animal skins tied together at the waist. The types of homes were another part of a culture that was different from others. The Iroquois tribe had longhouse that could be as long as 150 feet by 20 feet. The Zuni tribes had pit houses, which could range in size. They were covered with branches, weeds, and mud. But as time went on, they lived in stone houses, which were built on top of each other. The stone houses were covered with plaster and mud; they also have ladders connecting them. The Iroquois longhouses were made of tree bark and grasses. There are usually two smoke holes in the roof for ventilation, when it rains there are leather flaps that cover them. One longhouse can hold multiple families and there is only one door made of animal skin. As time went on many different cultures grew and became powerful. These differences, including their clothing, food, and shelter, made the tribes individually rich in culture. The Iroquois and the Zuni tribes are just two of all the early tribes who first came to the Americas. While some of these cultures have almost vanished, they are still recognized by he imaginations of those know the past.
