What piece of VISUAL art (architecture, pottery, paintings, drawings, etc) best represents the Renaissance? I am taking Art History, but I need input from other people. So, what best represents the Renaissance Era, and why is it best? What about it just says RENAISSANCE? Thanks for any of your help. I am taking Art History, but I need input from other people. So, what best represents the Renaissance Era, and why is it best? What about it just says "RENAISSANCE"? Thanks for any of your help. Also, what are some little red flags for the Renaissance? I know there's something about oranges... haha. But, what was most of Renaissance art about? The human body? Perfection? Religion?

Where can I find inexpensive pottery wheels and art supplies? I am looking for an electric pottery wheel inexpensive or used. I am also looking for art supplies like canvasses and paints. I am new at this and I want to start painting and making my own pottery. I just don't know how to get started.
How do you open a shop for pottery and other art in a small town. And to have it give back to the community? My family has been to several places to "do your own pottery/ ceramics" and they fire them for you. (In much larger cities) Our size is maybe 12,000 pop. My goal is to open something similar to this yet allow different classes to be taught also. Ex: painting, scrapbooking, batiking, sewing, sculpture, stainglass...any mediums people (children and teenagers also) would be intrested in. A place for all ages (allow kids to have b-day parties!) Also giving teens a place to hang & show their talents. Of course the art mind has no sense of the business mind. I clearly need advice on how this could be started and where to look for financing . It would be a great opportunity for this small town in TX w/nada. Allowing families and kids to do something unique. I have many ideas and themes found by talking to others. I feel that placing some of the profits with local and international charities would be a good way to give back. (Hab 4 Hum, YoungLife, Compassion I.) Just need a place to start.
Is there a place to make pottery using the wheel without taking a class, like just a single visit? I want to do something fun and different with my mom for her birthday and I thought making a simple piece of art using the pottery wheel would be fun. I just don't know where to go that offers single day visits not just the classes where you go a couple times a week.

The art of Crock pottery? :) I need recipes? Im looking for really good and delicious crock pot recipes. I love slow-cooking but I don't always like feeling as if I am eating a big mumbo-jumbo whose flavors are all mixed together. Do you know what I mean? So I like recipes that are simple (like cooking the chicken breasts with apple slices and potatos and then having a side dish of veggies or something else later on). But I want the slow cooker to do most of the work and I just want clean fresh, decently healthy recipes. Oh and especially seafood recipes if you have any...i dunno if seafood is too strong a flavor to use in crock pots. Thanks for your help if you can!
Where in Miami can I take my date out to make pottery for a day? In these trying times, do you feel safe investing in anything in particular? I still find myself purchasing highly collectible art glass/pottery, despite my empty wallet, I just feel that things are being sold at rock bottom prices and love collecting tangible art, stuff that can't really depreciate over time...what about you folks?

I really want to join pottery classes but what can I do? Okay, pottery is something I did my sixth grade year for an after school activity because the art teacher asked me to join art club (because I really love art!) Now I am going into 8th grade. So I said “Okay” thinking it was just going to be a fun little club where we draw and talk to friends at the art room after school and I was curious why we had to pay $40.00. But I told my mom that the art teacher asked me and she gave me $40.00 which I gave to my art teacher. Then, she led me to a poster and it said “clay sculpting, scarf making/painting, landscaping, pottery, and drawing” I was like “Cool! So it’s not just drawing. I didn’t even know there were pottery wheels and stuff in the art room. Probably in her art closet” so I just wrote my name under “pottery”. Then, she told me we would be going on a bus to a town for the club and I am like “Oh, so cool!” So all through that year I was in pottery and I thought it was the coolest thing I have ever done. I really wish I could do it forever because it is absolutely my favorite hobby ever. I would not quit or anything but last year and this year I am in middle school and they don’t have pottery. The art club really IS just a place where you draw and hang out with friends and I’m not saying that’s not cool and all but I really, really, really can’t stop hoping and asking that I join pottery again. But, when my mom paid that $40.00 apparently that was an amazing price for pottery lessons. I keep asking and she can’t because money is tight right now and she doesn’t have the time to drive me up to that beach-town that is 30 minutes away plus the price of gas and stuff. I understand that, but I don’t know what to do. $$ is tight at the moment and I can’t give her money right now because I am only 13 and too young for a job and I have older sisters that are experienced babysitters while I never went for a babysitters class so I can’t babysit for money and my mom doesn’t want me to get a job until I am like 15. I understand that, too. I also can’t drive (and won’t have a license ‘till I am 18) so I can’t drive myself to and from class so I don’t have money so what can I possibly do? I really, really, really, really extremely want to do pottery (sorry for the bad grammar) and I can’t stop thinking about pottery. What should I do?
guy trouble. long story? okay so ill spill i gues it a question more of a vent ao there is this junior {im a sophie} in one of my classes and he like always flrts with me and like other people somethines but not as much i dunn its diffrent anyways. its art/pottery/sculpting whatever, so he always finds stuff to mess with me with. and he always makes fun of me in a joking way and says something and hes like just kidding i love you i really do blah blah blah and i know i really like him cause he is deffionily not ugly but he isnttt hot so its not just a physical thing. (number one)so would you say he liked me. i thnk so but whatever so then he started takling to lets call her amanda who is a junior and is kinda a slut {she not a virgin he is} and so ya they went out for like a few months alot of people thought they were a weird couple she is supper blond superwhorigh and preppy [dont get me wrong im preppy but not a whore] more in a sec and no one thought it would last but they have been going out for like 2 or 3 months i thnk and ya. one of my best friends is good friends with his girlfriends and they like had sex at this party a few weekends ago [cause shes a whore] but hes normally a good kid so i can over look that but that was like 3 weeks ago. now he always flirts with me still alll the time in art and me and my bff {who is friends with his gf] is in there too so ya kinda weird. and they are goood friends now too i was going to post this earilier and ask if it is okay if i still ilke him and flirt when he starts it but... they broke up today and were like commenting each other on myspace all day and he still like her and shes like why are you still acting like my boyfriend im not going to want you back if i get the same thing from you when were not dating. she like give me something to want back i still have all hte benifits of you with out dating so why would i date you if i dont have too. blah ya i know. so i guess my quest is the can i still flirt what should i o now they broke up without making it aquard since me and his ex have the same bff and just what to do. i know its long it was a vent
How do I not let people get to me? I feel a little silly asking the question. But this is something I have been dealing with for the longest time and I do not know how to get over it. I get really hurt by what others say, even the simplest things. I can probably remember every single bad, or mean things others have said about me in life. that too word by word ! I can count them. First little on how I see myself I am smart, I have always made good grades. I always try to find new ways that would help me become a smarter, more intelligent person. I am aware of what goes around me. I watch the news and enjoy it. I watch history channel for fun. I am creative. I am not an artist but I don't remember when was the last time I did something that involved some sort of creativity and I wasn't praised for it. Be it my student governement posters, projects, decorating room, photoshop art, pottery. When I was in middle school or even high school I would have the best history notebooks. My teachers would always put me on the spot saying how others should try to learn something from me. When I started on ceramics, my strict teacher instantly put me in her good books because I was good at it. I am ambitious, and I work really really really hard.I have always managed to get what I want or get to where I want to be by working hard. Even though that never seems to be enough because I only look for the next best thing. I always feel like I am constantly trying to climb a ladder. I am pretty sure I am attractive. I broke up with my ex for more than a year ago. not sure why. One day I knew I loved him the next day I thought I need to know how I am as a person without being tied to someone. He still tells me how much he loves me and wants to be with me. And it really makes me uncomfortable. I know we would have a good life, I will be content. But for some reason I feel like that is a bad thing. I tried to go on casual dates with other guys but for some reason I always felt I wasn't ready and called it of before it even happened. Also I feel like I run away from guys who like me. I take great pride in knowing I am a good person. I am not judgemental, atleast not in a negative way. I care about people. I am kind, I smile and I compliment others a lot and I always mean it. I respect people alot!! I love kids and adore them. My friends love me! My first impression is always " Oh you are SO sweet" I can even cook and I cook really well. I am a horrible singer but I dance really well. I have many different hobbies, so a pretty well rounded person! I know so many good things about me, I doubt I have a low self-esteem. then why do I start crying at the simplest things people say. Recently I started writing articles for this website. Everyone praised me. There was just this one person who said " It is clear the article is written by a novice" and that line still floats in my head. I can't get over it. And this was a month ago. I cry when my little sister calls me annoying. I cry because of the silliest stuff.
I am new to Atlanta and want to meet some people.? Hello, I just moved downtown and want to make some new friends and meet new people. I like bars but i dont really drink. I'm thinking about opening my own store in a couple years...? If I opened a store (kinda vintage, but has pottery art jewelry etc), approxiamently how much money would I get in the first couple years? Just wondering, I need to know if I could live off of it -.- I'm pretty skilled, so it won't be crappy quality stuff. It'll just be a hobby, kinda...? thanks!
What type of art class should I take? I love art and I am really good at it too. I enjoy drawing my own silly cartoons in pencil (I do not use color) I just adore pottery. I have only done water color painting once I am extremely talented in it. I am stumped I don't know what kind of art class to take! My dad says he really wants to get my in an art class and I do too! I just don't know what to take I'm great at pretty much anything. I wanted to know your opinion on what would be the best art class for me.
Ceramics help? Alright so could someone please help me describe this piece of art thoughly especially in terms of the 7 elements of art. Or even just in general any ideas about the pot. Thanks a lot http://www.bluemoonclay.com/pottery_art/ceramics_pottery.html
What is a possible theme i can use for an art project? I need to create a series of 6 projects weaving a common theme through each. Any ideas? Its for a ceramics class and I have to find a way to use the theme in my pottery later on. But for now I just need some ideas. I need to create a series of 6 projects weaving a common theme through each. Any ideas? Its for a ceramics class and I have to find a way to use the theme in my pottery later on. But for now I just need some ideas. They have to be collages/examples of my own work (photography, painting, drawings, etc) and whatever theme i express in those will later be translated somehow into my pottery. Confusing I know haha
Applying to job in an art supply store? I want to apply for a job an an art supply store, and am wondering what are the most important things I'll need to know in order to be helpful as a sales person. I'm an art major in college currently, and have some experience with oil and acrylic paints and pottery, but I don't really know any technical details about paints, etc, just have some practical experience. What would you recommend learning before the interview?? Thanks!
Los Cabos tattoo parlors..... cuban cigars... golf rates? Hey I was hoping for some qualified info from someone that knows about a quality tattoo shop in Cabo that I could visit when I am there in March. Also, I was wondering about finding a way to get a good deal on a round of golf as I know it is pricey, but I'm sure there are "ways". Also, where should I go to get find some nice paintings/pottery/art to bring back with me that has the local feel to it. Also, any good info on the new Riu Santa Fe hotel???? My cousin is insisting that I ask these questions: First, where can he get good, CHEAP dental work done in/around Cabo when we are there....second, if he buys some cubans, what is the best way to bring a few back to the US on a plane without problems.....third!!!! Where can he find some high quality BUD, as he thinks he can buy it from locals on the street, but I have my doubts as the town is know to be somewhat Americanized. Sorry for the long list, but just trying to get everything in and plan ahead! PLEASE HELP CABO CHICK!!!!

What to charge for fine art pieces at a craft fair? I'm thinking of getting a booth at an Arts and Crafts Fair in my local town. I will have paintings, drawings and possibly some other pieces (pottery, clay works), perhaps some graphic design works. Considering sizes, detail, etc, what would be some fair prices for paintings, drawings etc? Also, I plan on just framing them with foamboard or regular matboard, this way the customer has the choice of an actual frame (metal, wood or whatever), to go with their home decor. Would that work well? Any other tips would be really helpful, as this would be my first time doing this, other than face painting at another fair! lol Thanks for all your thoughts everyone :)
What are the three most popular and classical art forms of Japan or of the Japanese? Is it painting sculpture literature pottery theater architecture you can add more just name 3 of the most popular art forms of Japan and posting your sources is greatly appreciated
i need more info for my essay. HELP!!!? its is about ancient roman art. and i have no clue what to write about. this is what i have so far:: Roman ancient art has been around for a long time and it is also used for different things. There are so many different types of ancient roman art. The most well known ancient art is pottery, mosaic and sculptures. Most of roman art is still around to this very day like pottery and sculptures. Romans took art seriously and used it to decorate theirs homes. Almost every home in Rome had art on the walls or on the floor, some houses even had them on their ceilings. Pottery is the most valuable art in the roman empire. Pottery is made from clay and then it is molded into different shapes and sizes to create bowls, plates, cups and many other things. When the clay is molded into the shape and design you want it to be then it is left out in the sun to dry, but now we use hot ovens to cook the pottery. Now a days pottery is expensive the amount of money ranges from $42-thousands of dollars. Pottery is important to us now because if pottery never existed then w would have no dishes and other eating appliances. Mosaics are created from tiny pieces of stone formed together to create a beautiful picture. Romans put the mosaics in the floor and on walls for their house guests to see and admire. Mosaics of the 4th century BC were found in the Macedonian palace-city of Aegae. Mosaics is a extremely popular roman art because it is very beautiful and it is also easy to create. Mosaics are put into the floor and used as floor tiles to decorate the rooms. Sculptures are also very well known because they are still around to this day. People all over the world create sculptures, but none of them compare to the Romans. The Romans made their sculptures out of bricks, stones, clay and concrete. They sculpted many things such as animals, gods and fountains. Sculptures are used now a days as decorations to resemble something or just to decorate a room. Roman art was important because with out it we would probably have no pottery, mosaics and sculptures. Roman art was well known for decorating their houses. Roman art was found in mostly every single house in Rome because it was colorful, creative and it brightens up their homes. We still use roman art to this day for decorations. I need info fast four pages due tomorrow. AHHH idc if its good. i just need 4 pages. haha
Anyone know of a place in Palm Beach County where you can do pottery or just use their kiln? I'm asking this for my daughter, who has decided she's a sculptor or something now... she's still in elementary school, and they made coffee cups in art class, and she'd like to do some more projects of this type, only I have no idea where to find such a place. Any ideas?

i am having difficulty breathing when i think of a certain topic.? First off, please don't answer by saying my religion is wrong or that there is no God...i can never be convinced by atheists Anyways, i am a Christian and when i think of certain topics that i think God might not want me thinking about, i get nervous and scared that God is mad and i have severe difficulty breathing...like an asthma attack...in the past, the attack would stop when i did'nt think about the potentially sinfull topic, but nowadays, the attacks will last about a week at a time...i am finding it hard to sleep and such.... i know i can stop it if i stopped thinking about the topics...but the things i am thinking about are not typical sinfull stuff like sex or murder. For example, i like ancient egypt but whenever i think of it now, i get scared because egypt was a pagan and jew-hating country and paganism is against Christianity...then the attacks start...nowadays even if i see anything egypt-related like steve martin playing king tut on saturday night live, i get an asthma attack that could last a week....i try telling myself that there are plenty of Christian egyptologists and liking old egyptian art and pottery won't make me a pagan or a demon-worshipper...but that logic won't work on my inner-concious and i am still scared and anything egyptian triggers the attacks. i don;t know if i can ever assure myself that God is cool with egypt...but i just want the asthma attacks to stop .. is it common for people's fear to psycologically trigger asthma, or is this supernatural...is God making the attacks happan directly???
Can I get into Cal Tech? Im just a little worried about my chances of getting in. I heard they require a 4.0 GPA and require a year of actual art, like pottery or painting. I have neither. It was only this year that I realized I wanted to be an engineer and the Cal Tech was a perfect fit as the majority of my family lives close by. I am a junior in high school right now. I have a 3.7 unweighted GPA and a 4.35 weighted GPA. Im in various clubs such as DECA, ACE, WAC, and HEART. I am also in the IB program and volunteer extensively to go along with some AP classes on the side. I am Asian by the way. I scored at 750 on the Math PSAT and low 600s on the Reading/Writing. By the way, does having your grades go up during the course of high school make you have a higher chance or is it negligable? I had many B's in freshman year, but I have been painfully pulling straight A's for the last 2 semesters. This is reverse when I asked my friends about theirs. All of theirs went down.
Translate into Spanish PLEASE. Best answer will be chosen.? Rioja is known worldwide for its exquisite wines. Potatoes flavored with a spicy sausage called chorizo are one of the most typical dishes in Rioja. Young goat or lamb roasted over vine pruning is another favorite. Trout, Barbel, tripe dishes and cheeses are also very popular. Fresh vegetables are also a Rioja tradition. Hypermarkets are very popular and are present in most of the larger towns. They are usually located on the outskirts and can normally be found by following the signs for the local centro commercial. The biggest are Eroski and Hipercor (part El Corte Ingles). El Corte Ingles is very popular in Spain and sells just about everything. Open air markets are usually open at nine AM until two PM and sell a wide variety of products including vegetables, flowers, clothes, shoes, linen, pottery, arts and crafts from local artists, domestic goods, carpets and jewelry.
Do I need a degree in Art to become an Art teacher? Hi everyone, I've asked questions on here and found people to be so helpful. I'm 32 and have just completed an MA in Creative Arts Therapy(main focus was Drama, but the medium is very broad..used a lot of art activities such as puppetry, pottery, and drawing/imaging and I've also taken workshops in Art therapy) in the Uk. I've a liberal Arts degree in English, Sociology and Politics. I also have a higher diploma in Drama Education and Tefl. I've been in Education for five years, working as a one to one tutor with autistic children, and have also taught Drama and English as a foreign language. My goal is to teach a subject I'm passionate about, which has always been art but I got sidetracked. My query is can I do an MA in Art education or would I need an undergrad in Art or an Art related degree? I intend to return and study in the States in order to do so. I'm sorry that I rambled around the question, and appreciate any advice..

Also to be a college art teacher for lets say pottery, jewelry, etc I would just need a bachelors in art education right? or do I need a bachelors in art education and a bachelors in education/teaching? Please dont ask me to look for psychiatric help, I am aware that my "imbalance" is spiritual andI know medics dont understand this even though I often feel suicidal and despair. I dont want to just seem and feel happy, I want to be close to Jesus and God again and be clear enough to do their will, like I was before.I was so different full of light and awareness, and helpfulness, working with children and animals, art music and pottery and inspiring pothers in creativity and spirituality. So much of my self has been massacred and destroyed. I feel totally disconnected from spirit and freaky things are happening to my energy. I am getting visual hallucinations and horrible programs slipped into my mind when my mind is too bust to concentrate. I just dont know what to do

What should your skill level be, to be an art teacher? Does anyone know how skilled of an artist you need to be to teach high school art classes? I believe I am a fairly good artist, but I'm not amazing or anything...at least to me. I took 2nd and 3rd advanced art in school, and have continued painting, and doing ceramics for 4 years after graduating. My painting and drawing teeters more towards the abstract side, but I can accomplish a realistic still life or landscape although it takes me a while. I've done a portrait here and there. Do you think it sounds like I would be qualified as skilled enough to teach after schooling? I just don't want to jump into all this college just to find out I'm not gonna be talented enough to do the job. If I remember correctly, my highschool art classes consisted of learning some art history, learning about perspective and such, doing simple still lifes, using different types of art methods like pastels, acrylic paint, simple pottery, etc. Then in the advanced classes she would just give me more advanced projects of the same methods, and then she would grade me when I was done, and answer any questions I may have. There wasn't much teaching done in the advanced classes.. If I remember all that correctly it seems like something I would be able to do easily, but I was wondering what others would think? Thanks in advance for anyone who read all that, and for any real answers. I will gladly give +10 for the most thoughtful answer! Have a beautiful day!

Can someone check my essay? My Organ No one truly knows when, where or how our lives begin. Some say it begins at the conception; some say it begins when the baby is pushed from the womb; others say it is when the first heart beats of the fetus starts. From the start of our lives, due to its ups and downs, we feel different emotions: grief, terror, anger, and love. They make us want to express ourselves: we cry, we laugh or try to take revenge. Some people express these emotions through singing, writing poems, writing journals, or art. Eventually, these expressions become an organ of our body. Sketching and painting has become a primary organ of me. As a child, I felt unloved. I wasn’t a people person. Neither was I the favorite child of my parents. Even though I had everything a child should have, I felt like I was missing something. Like every child, I began to draw stick people, and houses with one door. But, I found something more in drawing than many other children did. I spend my summer mornings doodling for the joy of it. I began to explore my feelings in those doodles. I discovered that there is something more in colours than pleasing our eyes; colours show deep emotions. I realized that the organ in my body is not developing through learning from a teacher, but through exploring my own mind. In middle school, many including my parents said that I had a “talent” in art making, but I believed it to be a “passion.” The more the people around me encouraged me, the more I developed as an artist. Music was a huge source of inspiration; it helped me to strengthen my emotions and pictures in my mind; it helped me to dream. The great artist Andrew Wyeth once said, “I dream a lot. I do more painting when I'm not painting. It's in the subconscious.” As my organ developed, I understood the realism hidden behind images: shadows, perspective, detailing and texture. Sometimes, I feel that realism is important in my work of art. Other times, due to my emotions and state of mind, chaos surpasses realism. At the age of 14, I did my first canvas. I mostly enjoy creating artworks that explore the beauty of the anatomy. The human figure, I believe, is the most beautiful creation by the Mother Nature. In 2008, I took a class of creating three-dimensional art: sculpture and pottery. It was a new, exciting experience. This class helped me to explore the beauty of the human body as expressed in three dimensional arts. I also enjoy drawing objects from the nature, or what I believe is the universe. I always like creating “some thing more” than what I already see. As I became a teenager, in my art work, I began to include not just my emotions but also my principles and beliefs. My eleventh grade art teacher inspired me a lot. When creating a mixed media work, he told me, “An art work is not making something look fancy and pretty…it is a work that has a strong, powerful ‘theme’ throughout the composition.” From this day on, I began to choose the colours, shapes and line that suite my “theme.” These themes always related to my life (i.e. light and dark, good and evil, nature, life and death, supernatural/superhuman ect.); they represent me and what I believe. To create Art, one must have his or her own philosophy. My philosophy was a one that I learned through others, my self and the nature: “When our beliefs and emotions come together, it will give us a purpose to live.” My organ will further grow as an artist, and someday inspire thousands!
Would The Art Institutes Be A Good School For Me? In college I plan on majoring in Art && Fashion Design,I've taken in art in Jr.High and I plan on continuing till High School Graduation. I have pretty great artistic talents, and I've been designing for almost two years now, I just need to start sewing up my designs and getting them made. My drawings are mainly anime, but I am beginning to do realistic things like people and places, and they're coming out pretty well. I also know how to paint, and I'm gonna start to do pottery in high school too. Would the Art Institutes be a good school for me?
What can I do/where can I go to get out of the house more ofen? I'm 17, home schooled, live in alaska and most of my friends have moved out of state so since I'm home schooled I usually stay at home a lot. I spend most of my time on the computer, watching anime or playing video games especially since all the friends I have that haven't moved love the things I hate and hate the things I love and go out of their way to hate anything do do with things like anime/video games and are a little close minded wile I like to keep an open mind about almost anything so we don't get along all the time so we don't hang out too much and since I'm home schooled it's not like I can make new friends at school. I would like to know if there's any kind of group or club type thing in alaska that I might like. To give you some ideas here are some of the things I like most. ^_^ Cats (My favorite thing! I'm a cat lover. X3) Anime/Manga Video games Electronics/Technology (like computers, game consoles, cell phones, ipods and other stuff like that.) Drawing (I LOVE to draw but I suck so much at it. T_T) Art (painting, coloring, pottery, drawing, crafts, sewing, etc. I love all kinds of art and artistic stuff but drawing is definitely my favorite. ^_^) Japan/Japanese culture Traveling (Although I never get to. *sigh*) Here's a list of things I don't like in case it might help. lol Cat haters (I don't hate dogs btw but they usually hate me. How could anyone hate a cute adorable kitty?) Close minded people (Their opinion is their opinion but would it kill them to try something before they decide if the do/don't like something...) Reading (Manga is an exception.) Sports (I'm very small for my age so I'd get killed lol and I'm lazy. Plus sports are boring. But I do like things like martial arts or just taking a walk.) Loud noises (I don't like being around loud noises. They're just annoying.) I don't know of any and I've looked on the internet for groups/clubs in alaska but couldn't find any so I figured I'd see if anyone here would know any or could find one. Also I don't really like being out doors too much like camping and other stuff like that. Not for me.
Does this look accurate? My boyfriend and I are hoping to get our own place in a year or two. We have been together for almost two years now. Would it be cheaper to rent or to buy a house for like under $150,000 under my name. I am worried about how i'm going to afford this. Right now I'm going to college. Currently I am working at getting my Bachelors in Art education to become a photography, graphic arts, interior design, pottery and/or jewelry. I'm interested in all aspects of it but not sure if I could do photography as a career lets say. Anyways, does this sound accurate for two people? My boyfriend is not in college but he is working in a store but I'm assuming in case he looses his job or something happens so that way I'll be able to make enough money for the both of us if that happens. We want to stay around 20miles within or around Aurora,Illinois(about an hour from chicago). I have two cats and we have to take them with us. One of them is really picky and only eats wet food. -.- How can I make this work that we can get our own place in a year or two. I'll be getting my Associates in Arts education by then. How to keep this artist as a friend? I know this artist, and she is a very talented painter. The way she view things gets on my nerves at times. To her photography isnt art. Doll making, pottery, things of that nature , she is always saying they aren't art, they are crafts or hobbies. She is very narrow minded too when she sees other paintings, if it isnt realistic, or if it isnt Leonardo quality she can be so critical that it just irritates me. What do you say to someone like that and keep them as your friend? I have never met anyone so artistic but so narrow minded. I know she struggles with being famous one day, her goal in life, although she tends to miss out on all the things in life, kinda sad.
What can I find out about this set of antique dishes? There is a friend of my family who is now 97 years old and will be 98 in January. She gave me a set of antique dishes when she moved to a different home. I love them and will keep them for years to come. I'm just curious as to whether or not they have any real monetary value? They are called Foley Art China Peacock Pottery they were made in England and each dish says "Copyright 1929" Anyone have any idea? I've searched Ebay and they do have Foley Art China but not as old as the set I have. Thanks in advance for any advice you may have!

Please help...Questions about The Art Institutes(If you been to one please answer)...? I'm 16, currently a junior living in San Diego. And I'm not sure what I want to do (as a career), but I'm good at art I enjoy doing it, and I'm thinking maybe getting into advertisement maybe making movie posters or like perfume or make up ads, or maybe getting into fashion design. idk. But I was wondering what it's like to go to the art institute. Is it like high school where you have certain classes you have to take and you can have an election class(choose a class you want). I just want to know how a regular day there is like. And these are the art things I enjoy doing. So if you have time will you please tell me some careers you think would be good for me. Thank you. =] Art things I enjoy doing: -Traditional sketching and drawing -Pottery (working with clay) and a little jewelry making -Photography -Digital art: working with photoshop and Coral Painter X, although I don't have much experience in that -Fashion, I enjoy making a few fashion sketches every now and then but that's as far as I go with that. My Plan: And after high school I plan on going to Mira costa collage, than the peace corps because I'd like to get involved in helping ect. and I think it'll give me time to think of what I really want to do, and then afterwords I plan on going to the Art Institute. Do you think that's a good plan? And I do really want to join the peace corps so no comment on that please. And I just want to figure this all out because at my school we're going to do this thing called a Juniorexhibitionn and that'sbasicallyy finding a career you're interested in doing and you have to do a ton of research and other stuff for it Thank you very much for your help! =]
Art students/teachers/experts/lovers help!!!!!!!!? I am a 20 year old psych major and I am reaaaaly interested in the sugar arts/ pastry and baking arts that is. I am no good at drawing or painting but I have a lot of ideas in my head but don't know how to put them on paper. Most people would say why not just go to culinary school? Well I want some education in painting, drawing, textiles, sculpture and pottery cuz I think it will enhance my pastry arts abilities. Where should I start? Art there schools that teach art to people like me who are barely competent in the stick man level of skill? I want to get the best training ( Vassar etc.) but I am kinda talentless I have no portfolios or books filled with doodles so what's the best route. Any help is useful help to me. Thanks!
How should I decorate my cranberry red living room? My husband and I just painted our living room cranberry red. I'm starting to think about decorating ideas, but am having a hard time figuring out what will work with the bright color and home style. It's a 1920's bungalow, so I want to keep that old, comfortable style and mix it up with some classic Pottery Barn designs. We have a greenish/brown Pottery Barn couch, oversized club chair, brown rectangular ottoman (used as a coffee table alternative), and a beige/sage Persian rug. I was thinking of black and white photographs of places we've visited, but I need other options. Maybe vintage Parisian/Italian posters? Would that be too busy/much? What suggestions do you have for accent table finishes, wall decor, and picture frame finishes? Also, is it okay to have brown wood furniture with black-framed wall art?

Or should I just get an associates in arts and get like a bachelor's in education. I was thinking of doing elementary school. OR pottery/jewelry for high school and college level.
Ow to sell my pottery? Do I need a business name?? Any help please!!!!!? "m wanting to sell my pottery on the side. I don't really want to do consignment (although I may) But I'm more curious in selling at either craft fairs or through a website (prefer not to use eBay). Questions: - Do I need a legal business name - and where do I go to get this (how much do they run typically?) - Anyone familiar with booth presentation at fairs? They say they want a pic of booth presentation - what's up with this? - Do you know of any websites that explain how to set up a website for selling stuff? Professional but on the budget side? - Where can I get a list of art shows going on around my area (georgia) - would it be the Chamber of each county? Any help would be great. I'm a single mom, in college with a full-time job. I have very unique, functional pottery that amazingly sells very well (was with a pottery business for a while) and I need to start a small - at home side business for a little extra cash. Just need to know what I need to get started.

Need help on identifying face art pottery, possibly Irish/Gaelic? I have 2 pieces of lovely but unusual face art pottery with both marks and artist signatures. The signature is perfectly clear, written into the clay on bottom, but I cannot decipher it. Can only make out the first 7 letters which are..."Deichiu". The remaining letters could be "aua" but I am not sure. All to do with reading handwriting. When I googled the first 7 letters you see above, I got sites that were irish or gaelic, some spoke about the respective languages. Hopefully I am at least on track. The logo, well same thing. I interpret it a capital letter "D" and horizontally centered in it is the letter "Y". Under that is marked very clearly either "NB 44" or "N3 44". They are very heavy pottery pieces, 6.5 " long, 3.5 " wide and 3.5 " tall. The glazing on this brown pottery is a light green, I would say. If anyone with experience in collecting art pottery, Irish, Gaelic or whatever can help me identify what I have, it would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks,

From pottery to painting to sculpture, Greeks continuously moved toward portraying the human figure and the rest of the world with more true-to-life realism, that is...making the art object realistically, as we actually see it in real life. is this true or false. i thought the greeks were more into the gods and goddesses, so it would be false right, althought hey did make them look life like? im not sure how to answer this question, any help is appreciated. i think its true!

I like several different types of styles for home decor, should I combine all or choose one? These are the styles of decor I like - Southwest inspired such as Native American art, pottery, drums, cactus, zig zag lines, bold earthy colors etc; Canadian/Alaskan wildlife like moose, wolves, evergreen trees, pinecones, etc; and Asian inspired decor like bamboo plants, water fountains, windchimes, teapots, feng-shui, etc. In my new home, should I try to incorporate parts from each or stick with one type the whole way through? I don't know how I could pick only one style and if I did, I would miss the others. What are your thoughts on this?

Radio ad for fatherhood saying bad things about a pottery career? Hi: I wasn't listening closely, but I barely heard a radio ad with what sounded like Tom Selleck as the narrator, and a father and son dialog and the son mentioned he was interested in pursuing a career as a potter, and the father slammed him for a bad career. Anyone else hear that? I think that is a really bad ad, that slams art as a career in general. That really makes me mad, because that seems to put artistic endeavors in a bad light. I would like to know the actual place that has that ad so I can write them, and I would highly encourage any other artist to do the same. Any helpful information is appreciated. AM - artists are not what you said. Your answer is not appreciated at all, and you seem like a hater.

Trying to expand the art scene here in Las Vegas. What appeals to you? The art culture is growing here. I've been trying to find ways to make extra money and expand my artistic skills. I'm young and enjoy the urban scene: music, fashion, movies, etc. I love unique and creative styles of art. I would like to portray city life, fashion and music into my art but i dont know how many people would buy into it. I want to identify with the youth and young adults. I dont think it's ever too early for them to love art. I was also considering producing one of a kind/limited edition artwork specifically for tourists. Mostly photos and digital work. Most of them come from Europe and Asia and they buy alot of cheap, mass made art. So why not make something better thats limited? What kind of things would you like to see in photography, digital work, paintings, oil pastels, sculptures, pottery, blown glass, etc? And for those of you that are young (14-25 yrs) what is the chances of you buying artwork? Especially if it isnt expensive and appeals to your lifest I love graffiti, but was never able to get far with it. i'm doing pretty well in photography and wanted to take really creative photos of the strip and various areas of the valley. Tourists done really care about anything else other than the strip. i know alot of tourists like artwork of the strip. Most of it isnt that great so I wanted to capture things they would overlook and would not really beable to see like great sunrises and sunsets.
