What happens if you fire das modelling clay in a kiln? Will it become weather proof like normal pottery clay?

What temperature is best?

  1. No, you can't fire it. It has additives in it that make it air dry and not crumble so won't fire in a kiln properly. You can tell when you use it that it feels almost oily and rubbery, and those chemicals will prevent it from properly firing. I bet that it would just fall apart as those binders burn away. It could also damage other items in the kiln, the kiln itself, and since it isn't meant to be heated like that I would think there would be some bad fumes too!
  2. Das is an air-drying polymer clay. Heating it in a kiln will reduce it to ash, and chloride vapors that could harm your kiln.
  3. NO...It is made wit wax, oil and dry clay. It will melt and then catch on fire if heated.
