- Don't know your age, but the local Community College is a great resource for pottery classes.
- Try your local Community Center for classes for all ages, also at the museums which sometimes have family type art classes, and look in your newspaper for announcements of classes at art centers. The type of clay or ceramic classes you want to take is called "functional' work (versus sculpture for other things) if you want to use it to eat or drink from, and you can hand build these or "throw" them on a wheel. Throwing clay on the wheel is harder than hand building, and hand building is usually the first thing you are taught in a beginner class. Be sure to ask about methods taught before you sign up for the class so you know what to expect. The person giving the class usually writes a description of what will be taught and the supplies needed, as well as the price for a set number of classes. It is great fun and a nice bonding activity for you and your dad.
- Try the MudFire Center or Elements Clay Studio. Have fun
