- I wouldn't make your own clay, you don't know the consistency of it and what temperature you should fire it at and stuff. Best to just buy some from clayplanet.
- what is a pottery spinner? If it is a real potter's wheel, being dinky won't make it good for learning. If it is just a kids toy it might be designed to splash paint around, not to shape clay: http://www.toyscamp.com/alex-toys-my-spinner-ceramic-art-swirl-machine-by--p-al166w.htm?src=froogle The only "clay" you can easily make is playdoh and if you search for "playdoh recipe" you will find plenty of different ones on the web. Playdoh isn't suited for use on pottery wheels. If you use real ceramic clay you will need a heavy potter's wheel and you will need access to a kiln to fire what you make. If you want to learn how to throw clay on a wheel I would highly recommend to find a class somewhere near you and take it.
